DSS water organizes a live WASH in Emergency training which will take place from 20 to 22 April at the Red Cross office in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The training has been specifically developed for experts who are interested in deployment via DSS water.
During the first day (April 20) we focus on aid in humanitarian or emergency situations. Humanitarian principles, the cluster system and the mandates of a number of important organizations are discussed. In addition, the SPHERE project and minimum standards in humanitarian settings are discussed in more detail.
Subsequently, the two-day technical WASH training for drinking water and sanitation specialists will take place on April 21 and 22. This training focuses on emergency aid interventions in the drinking water and sanitation sector. Standard techniques and solutions related to water and sanitation in emergency situations are discussed, with many examples from the field discussed. The link between water, sanitation and health will also be discussed, as will the importance of hygiene and actively involving the population in the design of technical solutions.
25 experts can participate in this training free of charge. The training is given in English.
