DSS water is currently looking for a WASH Hydrogeologist to support the Bahamian RC in their response to Hurricane Dorian. Immediate availability is required.
The WASH Hydrogeologist will:
- Assess current state of boreholes in operational area. Document damage to wells and equipment. Document salinity of flooded wells.
- Prepare plan to bring non-functioning or flooded boreholes back online.
- Oversee remediation efforts.
- Advise on local procurement, including service provider contracting.
The primary WASH issue in the Bahamas is the damage and contamination (by sea water and chemicals) of the boreholes that are the main source of community water supplies.
