Last week Carel de Groot, Thematic Expert Water Management from the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta, presented the DRR-Team report ‘Central Sulawesi Disaster Recovery: support for reconstruction of urgent Dikes in Palu Bay’ to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) in Jakarta. Indonesia had requested expert advice from the Netherlands in the aftermath of the devastating tsumani and liquefaction that hit Palu in Sulawesi as a result of the earthquake that struck on September 28th.
The objective of the DRR-Team mission was to review the design of a proposed sea wall. The report, written by Martijn Onderwater (Teamleader, Arcadis), Deepak Vatvani (Deltares) and Arno Rozing (Deltares), contains a thorough review and recommendations for the authorities in Indonesia.
