A rapid response to water related disasters
The Dutch Surge Support facility (DSS water) supports the operations of humanitarian organizations during and immediately after a disaster by deploying experienced water experts. The Netherlands, as a frontrunner in the field of water management, has a lot to offer in this regard. The deployment of DSS water experts contributes to saving lives and alleviating suffering of a vulnerable population that is affected by disasters.
International organisations that are interested in the deployment of DSS water experts, can contact the Netherlands Enterprise Agency by sending an email to email@example.com. Based on previously stated cooperation contracts (standby agreements), a request for support during or after a humanitarian disaster can be submitted.
The pool of more than hundred DSS experts consists of top professionals in the field of water resources management, WASH and other affiliated areas of expertise. These well trained experts are all prepared to work in emergency situations and will be able to make a crucial contribution under challenging circumstances.
Experts can be deployed within 48-72 hours. Deployment duration varies from several weeks to a few months. Besides deployment in the field DSS water can also offer other ways of support eg remote support from the Netherlands as well.
Based on previously stated cooperation contracts (standby agreements) between DSS water and a demanding international humanitarian organisation, a request for support during or after a humanitarian disaster can be submitted. The expert is contracted by RVO but once deployed, the expert will fall under the supervision of the requesting organization. The requesting organization is expected to provide security precautions and logistical support such as visa, local transport, accommodation, etc. RVO will reimburse the expenses incurred by the experts and offers after care support upon return of the expert to the Netherlands.
